About Me
Hi
I began my career over 30 years ago as a crisis intervention specialist in a hospital, working with children who had experienced trauma. After helping the children successfully reunite with their families and return home, I noticed a pattern of rehospitalization shortly after discharge. It was then that I recognized the need to involve the entire family in order to be effective and create lasting change. This insight ignited my passion for counseling, leading me to pursue what I believe is my true calling.
Since then, I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages across various settings, witnessing transformative changes in their lives.

Background
In addition to working as a crisis counselor with children, I worked with adults with serious mental health and substance abuse issues as they transitioned out of state and local hospitals. I facilitated educational and support groups throughout the community for family members and caregivers of the mentally ill while partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Education Consultant
As a Director of Student Services and School Counselor, I developed interventions for students with special needs, and implemented school-wide programs that focused on social and emotional development. This experience provided me with a unique understanding of the dynamics of an educational system, which has been a valuable asset when counseling educators and families. I understand the teachers' perspectives, as well as the frustrations parents face trying to navigate "the system" and advocate for their child.

Those who know me would describe me as genuine, down-to-earth, and non-judgmental.
I have faced and overcome many challenges throughout my life that have helped me understand and relate to others on a personal, authentic level.
I don't consider this a job; for me, it's my vocation, and I truly believe my clients can feel that.
